As part of a plan to transition to Marzano as the instructional framework, it was necessary to evaluate our mentor teacher program. I developed a program based off of Supporting Beginning Teachers that was then shared with mentor teachers during workshop week.
One of the areas of need in classrooms is the application of accommodations and modifications for students on an IEP. Through the confusion between the groups of teachers, I lead a book study on Building on the Strengths of Students with Special Needs to encourage teachers talk about how and when to apply different accommodations and modifications.Â
